Mnemovore

So I just finished the comic miniseries Mnemovore, by Hans Rodionoff (Lovecraft, The Lost Boys: The Tribe), and Ray Fawkes (The Apocalipstix, Spookshow), with art by Mike Huddleston (Deep Sleeper, The Coffin), and published in 2005 by DC's Vertigo imprint, for mature readers.
The story is a Lovecraftian affair involving memory loss, old people and tentacle monsters. Kaley Markowic suffers a head injury while snowboarding, effectively ending her career and causing brain damage, resulting in partial amnesia. While recuperating, the town is plauged by small tentacle monsters that feed off of memory. Kaley, being brain damaged, is completly immune to the attacks of the tentacle creatures (and their master, the Mnemovore), leaving her to be the only one who can figure out what the hell is going on and save the world from the ancient monster's memory eating... grip? Tentactle hold? Suction-cuppary?
So now, the review. The art was excellent through out the book. Adding to the sense of dread and confusion about Kaley's person, and increasing as the series continues. The painted covers are all wonderful, I would actually hang one up in my room if I could. Mike Huddleston seems to know what he's doing. The writing is also good, with realistic dialouge and some pretty creepy lines. The story is much better then I'm sure I made it sound, and I loved the ending, which was both sad and a little unnerving. Put all these together and you get a pretty good book. One that I would give four and a half out of five stars, annnnd highly recommend for reading to any fan of horror, Lovecraft, tentacle monsters, amnesia, snowboarding, comics, pictures, or old people.
4.5 out of 5
Have a nice night
